IN THIS LESSON, STUDENTS WILL IMAGINE WHAT THEY WOULD DO IF THEY WERE ANOTHER PERSON IN A SET OF GIVEN CIRCUMSTANCES THROUGH IMPROVISATION AND TEXT WORK.

“What would I do IF I was in this character?”

The focus of this lesson is one of the acting training techniques in The Stanislavski System called, “The ‘Magic If.’” Stanislavski did not believe that an actor could believe the world of the play was real. The actor could only ask, “What IF I was this person?”

The lesson plan attached is designed for use in basic acting and theatre classes in secondary school. However, it can be adapted for any age group.
